In several interviews, Malefic clearly states that the name Xasthur is a composite of Xastur, a demoness that kills people in their sleep, from the Necronomicon paperback and Xenaoth, a higher celestial spirit from the Santeria religion. An original idea for the name was Xasthuriath, but was then shortened to Xasthur on the release of the now destroyed rehearsal tape in 1997.

Jon Oliva began work on a solo project in 2003 while his old band Savatage went on indefinite hiatus, because of various issues. The band was originally to be called 'Tage Mahal (an allusion to the Savatage name later used as the title of the first album) but was changed to Jon Oliva's Pain to avoid confusion with the blues guitarist Taj Mahal.

The band has shared many members with Circle II Circle (another Savatage offshoot), and Jon has written music and provided guest vocals for them. He has also made guest appearances for Chris Caffery.

Shadows Fall is an American metal band from Springfield, Massachusetts, formed in 1995. They are one of the few contemporary metal bands who take their lyrical influence from some references to the Rastafari culture.[1] Although the band has experienced several line-up changes, for most of its recording career Shadows Fall has been composed of Brian Fair (vocals), Jonathan Donais (lead guitar), Matt Bachand (guitar), Paul Romanko (bass), and Jason Bittner (drums).

Shadows Fall have released six studio albums, two compilation albums, and two DVDs. The band's first album featured Philip Labonte on vocals, although he was soon replaced by Fair. Shadows Fall's first two studio albums featured David Germain playing drums, but in 2002 Bittner joined the band full time. In February 2008, the band was a Grammy Award nominee in the category Best Metal Performance for the song "Redemption" off the album Threads of Life. In late 2011, they entered the studio to record a new album. The album, Fire From the Sky, is set to be released on May 15, 2012, and is the first to be produced by Adam Dutkiewicz since the band's first studio release.

Pink Cream 69 is a German hard rock band founded in 1987 in Karlsruhe, Germany by Andi Deris, Dennis Ward, Kosta Zafiriou and Alfred Koffler. The band gained their first contract by winning music magazine Metal Hammer 's newcomer competition in Ludwigsburg one year after forming. In 1994, Andi Deris left the band to join German power metal band Helloween. He was replaced by British singer David Readman.

The band, often referred to as The Pinkies, became a five-piece in 2003, when Uwe Reitenauer was hired to support guitar player Alfred Koffler, who suffered from neuropathy.

On March 5 2012, it was announced that drummer Kosta Zafiriou had left the band, due to his various activities as a manager at the company Bottom Row and as the drummer and manager of the new band Unisonic, which also features Dennis Ward. He was replaced by band's good friend and longtime drum tech Chris Schmidt, who has previously played with Sunstorm project (along with Dennis Ward and Uwe Reitenauer), Harry Hess' FIRST SIGNAL and more. Kosta will continue to work in the management of Pink Cream 69 as well.
